Weddings

WeddingsThe bagpipe is an instrument known to uplift and instill a feeling of joy, and throughout history it has been used in celebrations of all kinds. A few additions of the great highland bagpipe to your wedding will truly make it a day to remember.

There are many different types of weddings, and many different places a bagpiper could potentially play. Here are a few popular examples:

  1. Prelude: As guests arrive at the ceremony, a bagpiper can provide light background music. Positioning himself either outside the wedding location or inside the lobby area. A series of Upbeat Marches and melodic Hornpipes would both attract guests to the wedding location and sooth them as they enter.
  2. Processional: A bagpiper can introduce the varying characters to the front of the stage with the use of Traditional Marches. This includes the groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girls, and anyone else that may need to be escorted.
  3. Bridal Processional: Equipped with the traditional bridal march, a piper can create a strong signal for the company to stand, and then lead the bride and father to the altar. If the bridal march is not preferred, there are several other celebratory marches and Hornpipes that could be easily substituted.
  4. Newlywed Recessional: Once the match is made and kiss is completed, the piper will promptly appear near the front of the stage and strike up a celebratory march or hornpipe. From here, the bagpiper will march the newlyweds back down the aisle and position himself either in the lobby or directly outside the wedding location.
  5. Postlude: As guests leave the ceremony, the bagpiper can continue to serenade them with light celebratory music until all guests have made their way out.
  6. Reception: When the newlyweds arrive, the piper can once again introduce them to the company by piping them into the area. Similarly, the piper can continue to provide light entertainment while the guests enjoy their victuals.
